Klezz of 99

  • Composer: David Kweksilber
  • Transcription: Anton Weeren
  • Instrumentation: Fanfareorkest
  • Duration: Ca. 3,10 min.
  • Difficulty: Grade 3

David Kweksilber, the composer of this piece, has listened to a lot of historical Klezmer recordings by Naftule Brandwein and Dave Tarras. As an instrumentalist, he also took lessons with virtuosos such as David Krakauer and Andy Statman. The character and sound of Klezmer serve as inspiration within Kweksilber’s own compositions. This resulted in Klezz of ’99 at the end of the ’90s, which he premiered with the New Cool Collective Big Band in a groovy, danceable context. Anton Weeren has made this masterful piece available for wind and fanfare orchestra, which can be performed with or without a combo. David Kweksilber enjoys participating as a soloist during performances of this super fun piece.
