Making recordings

In addition to the first orders received last month, we’ve received very positive feedback about our new webshop. Common words mentioned in the responses include: well-organized, neat, easy, simple, clear, and fast.

However, there are also areas for improvement. Many people have mentioned that they would like to hear a sound sample before purchasing a new piece of music for their concert band, fanfare band, brass band, or student orchestra.

Since we believe that MIDI files do not adequately represent the compositions, we will be recording real orchestral performances. To achieve this, we have created the Dutch Wind Band. This ad-hoc project ensemble, consisting of 47 professional and advanced amateur musicians, will meet on Saturday, February 22, 2022, to record seven compositions for concert band, and, time permitting, two compositions for student orchestra.

It’s an exciting and fun project! Exciting because assembling such an orchestra has been quite a challenge. Fun because it’s truly fantastic to have all these talented musicians together, to hear the beautiful sounds, and to work with such a highly skilled, enthusiastic, and motivated ensemble.

The recorded pieces will be linked to our webshop via our own YouTube channel, with the sheet music displayed in synchronization with the recordings. It couldn’t be clearer!

The pieces we will be recording are:

  • Son of the Sun (concert piece)
  • Apollo (march)
  • Donec Iterum Conveniant (choral)
  • Il est né le divin enfant (Christmas)
  • Caecilia (march)
  • Intrada Festivo (opening piece)
  • Spiritus Vita (concert piece)
  • Paper Hat of Entertainment (student orchestra)
  • Heetboven (student orchestra)

In short: keep an eye on our YouTube channel! As soon as new content is uploaded, we will, of course, inform you via our usual channels.

With musical greetings,
Dutch Wind Music
