Concertino for Trombone and Orchestra

  • Composer: Anton Weeren
  • Instrumentation: Solo Trombone & Fanfare Band
  • Duration: Ca. 11,30 min.
  • Difficulty: Grade 5

This Concertino for trombone and orchestra was commissioned by the Orchestra of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee for trombonist Paul Langerman. The work opens with a free Maestoso, immediately showcasing the soloist’s virtuosity and expressive range, followed by a short cadenza leading into the main structure.

Three continuous movements follow: a virtuosic and playful Allegro, a lyrical and reflective Adagio forming the emotional core of the work, and an energetic, motoric final movement in which soloist and orchestra drive towards a brilliant conclusion.
